Lionel Dockside Switcher-WOW

Well, just yesterday I was down at my local hobby shop checking out some of the new items in stock and came across the lionel dockside switcher in the NYC sheme. For $100 bucks, I couldn’t pass up the offer. There was just something about this engine that made it stand out from all the rest, also being the smallest[:)].

That evening I took it out for a spin on the holiday layout and was throughly empressed with its operation. And the smoke unit really put out some descent amount of smoke. The whistle was just what I expected from the little guy. Does anyone else agree with me about this neat engine. I figured I’d throw this in too, enjoy[:D]

I’m pretty happy with the two I currently have, as well. Darn nice little locomotives at a very reasonable price.

John, Check out last sunday’s Photo Fun thread, you’ll see the one I ran at the club layout last friday. It ran like a champ hauling nine cars, three of which had a pretty good load. [^][tup][tup][tup][tup][tup][tup][tup][tup]

same impression here …a wonderfull little engine…smoke even better using JT Megasteam…hopeffuly Lionel come up with new road name in their upcoming catalog

I’ve got the Copper Range dockside switcher and I too must say it is a wonderful little engine. I just ordered the TMCC upgrade kit from TAS and can’t wait to have it in command control along with my J3A Hudson.

I don"t think Mike can up with something as sweet.I think he may have woke the sleeping giant !

I love my NYC. My wife bought it for me as a early Christmas present. She likes it so much, she is thinking of ordering the North Pole one for next years Christmas.

I am very happy with my Bethlehem Steel version even if the whistle sounds like a moose on helium. I think the extra effort it takes for this little steamer to haul a load makes the smoke unit work all the better. Smooth and quiet operation, directional lighting and enough detail to impress make this the best bang for my buck so far.

I too have a Bethlehem Steel and love it! On the other hand, I got a Lionel Penn RS-3 for xmas …took it out of the box and it didn’t run at all. I took it back to the hobby shop for a refund.
