I’ve been having problems with my Lionel Santa Fe F3 smoke fan. The wick burns, but the problem is when the fan is on, it turns on and off, on and off every 1 second. My question is, how do I fix this problem myself?
I want to try and keep this on the front page.
Try doing a re-set. The radio board thinks its a strobe light.

I’ve already reset the engine twice and it still does the same thing and no it dosen’t have a strobe light on the engine itself.
Since you have done a re-set, maybe you should take to a repair station. Sorry that didn’t help.

Well I just sent an E-Mail to Lionel about this problem and I’ll wait for a response to tell you.
I had a similiar problem in an Lionmaster SD80 I had to put in a new smoke unit. It is four screws and plug and play. Very simple with the right parts from Lionel. It now is one of best smokers on my layout.
Did you open up to inspect? First check the connection to the mother board. next do you have a digital meter? see if you are losing power at the board… next inspect the board to see if the fan motor is loose. I had one that the electronic board was bad, copper strip was damaged. I bought a new smoke unit and all was fine…
