After reading through it one can see that there are many features in Legacy Command Control that are a step ahead of the TrainMaster Command Control.
Since LIONEL has been very slow and conservative on producing many roadnames at once on their Diesel-Electric Locomotives, by the time some roadname and locomotive model combinations get released, they will most likely be Legacy equipped.
EXAMPLES:
Burlington Northern GP30 in the 1990’s paint scheme.
Chicago & North Western GP30
Soo Line GP30
Chicago & North Western SD60 in Safety Yellow
Soo Line SD60 in Hockey Stick.
Alaska Railroad SD70MAC with Flared Radiators. Like on some of the UP SD70M units.
Canadian National SD75I
Soo Line U30C in the Original 1968 Scheme
Soo Line U30C in the 1974 SOO Scheme
Burlington Northern U30C
Lake Superior & Ispeming former BN U30C
Louisville & Nashville U30C
Missouri Pacific U30C
Rock Island GP38-2 in the final ROCK Blue Scheme
Grand Trunk Western GP38-2
Missouri Pacific GP38-2
Soo Line GP38-2 in the first series 4400-4411 with the Red SOO Lettering.
So it seems that waiting years for LIONEL to produce those Diesel-Electric Locomotive models might be worth the wait if the Legacy System is the big leap over the Train Master system as shown in the Manual.
