Lionel Lines Train attacked by Giant Black Scorpion!

A screencap from the movie The Black Scorpion - it’s a little blurry, sorry:

The passenger cars are Southern Pacific and the locomotive number appears to be 1000. Anybody know what set this was?

Jim,

The engine looks like an early 2026, the model that was more detailed the the later stripped down 2026. I am not sure about the cars though.

Jim

How could anyone get the tender backwards without noticing the different couplings??!!!

The trains were probably being pushed/pulled by some other means, usually a pully/weight system. This is not uncommon in motion picture production. I think there are other shots of the train sequence where the trains are “running” on 2 rail track. Movie’s terrible.

They should have used “Raid” on that bad Scorpian to do him in.[;)][:o)][:P] Take Care all.

Funny thread! I was watching a special program on Animal Planet recently and spotted another train in a monster movie. During The Giant Gila Monster -another black and white potboiler, like Scorpion- the tititular critter knocks over a trestle, derailing this train.

Although the quality of my pictures isn’t great, the train appears to be a mixed consist of Lionel boxcars, hoppers, and 2400-series passenger cars, pulled by a GM switcher and an Alco diesel.

Later in the program, the scene is mockingly reenacted with a current-production Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer set:
