Hi,
I have a Lionel #2927 lubrication/maitenence kit from 1987. It is brand new, and the package has never been opened. My question is: does this still work? Does it work as well as the new ones from today?
THANKS!!

Hi, and welcome. Don’t know exactly what’s in the kit, but my Lionel lubricant (grease tube) from 1954 still works great. I suspect track cleaner would either work, too, or at least do no harm.
Good luck,

You should be OK. Older greases coagulated over time but the chemistry got past that before the 80’s. Modern chemistry is always the best chemistry as it improves practically every year.
