Lionel MPC Wood sided weathered Caboose???

Did Lionel, MPC era, produce cabooses to go with the wood sided weathered boxcars and refeers? I am referring to the 6-5705 Ball Glass Jars, Oppenheimer Casings, Dairymen’s League cars.

Thanks,

Kurt

I do not remember there ever being a weathered caboose for these cars. The 5700 through 5707 wood side reefers were the only weathered cars from Lionel (edit: for this series) that I am aware of.

Edited to clarify.

There was never a weathered caboose offered for 5700 series weathered cars. At the time, these cars were poor sellers, probably because there were more collectors than operators in the marketplace at the time, and these cars didn’t fit in with the shiney new in the box items they already had. I think the same could probably be said for the warhorse sets of the 90’s.

In today’s market place, I think weathered items would probably sell, if they are the right items. The real railroads usually kept their premier passenger trains pretty clean, so these might not be the ones to weather. For example, say you are going to produce a Norfolk and Western J…[:-^]

As a J fan and collector I would like to offer: Towards the end of their careers these magnificent passenger locomotives were relegated to freight service i.e. coal hauling. I have many pictures of these machines in a “weathered” look.
