Lionel O 22 switches

I have bought on eBay some O22 remote controlled switches but i have some problem… i have installed on my layout (see pics at http://trenielettrici.blogspot.com) but i’m not sure how its operate. When i power the track the switches take some clickclack then they stop. If i try to change with command, it take come noise, some little vibrations but no change of track way…

This depend of 60hz problem ?!? i live in italy and in my country is the 50hz…

Please give me some suggestion how can i operate with my switches on the right way

many thanks for your patience and sorry for my english !

What is the stock number of the 022 switches? Lionel has made many they call 022.

If it is Lionel 6-23011 or 6-23010 they are terrible and will always be a problem!!! A Williams Trains tech advised me to replace them with something better.

This is two pictures of my switches… i search ref number over and under but there isn’t and i have not original boxes…

thanks

Cesco, do you have insulating pins in any of the rails, between the 022 and the other tracks? Two of the rails should have insulating pins–or just gaps. On the right side of your first picture, let us number the rails from top to bottom, 1 to 6. Rails 3 and 6 should not have an electrical connection to the other tracks. If you have metal pins in those rails, this may be the problem.

Cesco, Check the following link, it mite be pertinent to your switches but there are also two others there as well.

Prego!

Interesting installation of 027 track into 0 gauge switches.

Don’t forget to put a small shim under the ties where the

track and switches join so as to assure a smooth transition

from track to switches. Also track pins could be an issue

here as weel due to the size difference in the pins. Make

sure that all joints are tight, and don’t forget to insulate on

those outer rails. Those other guys gave you good advise!
