Lionel O guage 022 switch problem???

Its been quite a few years since I have set up my trains, I have 3 sets from the 1920 era that I run simultaneously with switch loops and side tracks. I use 5 switches. I forgot about the insulating pins and got that straightened out almost immediately. The next thing I ran into is I hook up the 3 wire remote to the 1 switch and when I push the remote up, it closes the switch and when I push it down, it closes the switch. So I switched wires 1 and 3 and when I push up it closes the switch and when I push down it does nothing. Obviously wire 2 needs to be in the middle all the time, but what am I doing wrong otherwise??? This is a generalized layout of what my track looks like. Its the one on the bottom of the track on the right side that isn’t working correctly. Help please!

Disconnect the controller entirely. They try throwing the turnout by making a connection between the center terminal and, one at a time, each of the other terminals. You can do this with a wire or, easier, with a screwdriver blade or other small piece of metal. This will determine whether the problem is in the turnout itself or not.

Are you using the proper controller for this turnout? O27 controllers are wired differently.

Thank you, that helped me narrow down the issue exactly. The connection inside the switch for the one direction had actually broken. Your idea allowed me to narrow the issue to the switch and nothing else…good to go now!
