Lionel O scale bad E unit board

Hay im sure this has been done has any one replaced a bad Eunit board with a diode or a full bridge rectifier as a replacement with a wireing diagram if it only goes fowared that ok or what would it take to make it reverse thank for any input welcome

Contact Jeff at the train tender, as that board probably isn’t that expensive. Jeff@ttender.com or goto www.ttender.com and his phone number is on the bottom of the page

Presuming you have a can-motored locomotive, for forward only operation, connect one ‘AC’ input of the full wave bridge rectifier to the roller pickup and the other ‘AC’ input to chassis ground. The + and - connections on the rectifier go to the motor terminals. If the engine runs in reverse, switch the + and - leads.

If you wish to reverse the engine without unhooking wires, you can wire in a Double Pole, Double Throw switch between the rectifier and the motor.

As regular Lionel E-units are, in fact, Double Pole, Double Throw switches, they can be used to perfom the function using the rectifier as well.

Here is the Williams Diagram for two DC can motors wired in parallel with an E-unit. Just eliminate one motor connection for your single motored engines.
