Lionel Postwar # 022 "O" Turnouts - Proper Packaging

Hi!

I’m mainly an HO guy, and a regular on the MR Forum. However, I also have a fair sized collection of Lionel Postwar. I’ve got a few sets of the #022 turnouts, with packaging. As I really haven’t messed with them in ten years, my problem is knowing how everything fits in the box, and frankly, knowing all the pieces that belong with a set.

Could someone direct me to a listing and pics?

I can’t tell you how to package the 022 switches but I have seen what the 022 switches look like in a complete set with the origin Lionel box. You have a pair of switches; one left & one right, two control units with wires(3 feet of wire?), two constant voltage plugs(normally black) that plug-in the side of the switch motor housing. The switch motor should have a plastic looking cap with four color windows in it with a heat vent hole in the top. On the 022 switches you can turn the little indicator cap and that will turn the switch direction. When you use the constant voltage plug it will cut track power from the center rail and recieve power from the voltage plug, Lionel did this so that you can run your train thru the switch at a slower speed and power the switch with a higher voltage to throw the switch. Depending on the year produced there can be screw-in bulbs or push & turn bulbs inside the switch housing.

Thanks for the reply and info! Given the commonality of the 022 switches, I figured I would get a lot of responses - but so far yours is the only one.

I do wish I could find a pic or two of the “packed box”.
