I want to add a third engine to my small collection - I’m having troble deciding on which one of these Rio Grande F3 AB’s, Seaboard 6250 NW-2 or 624 C&O NW-2 - is a better deal. All are about the same price. The NW-2’s are pricey little suckers for having only 1 motor. F3’s have lost a lot of value in the Lionel world since I first started but the latest run is really the best in my opinion(other than postwar). What do you all think is a better choice?

Talk about a tough choice! If I had to choose, I would choose the Seaboard 6250. The F3 is very nice, but I think the Seaboard is the most attractive. That paint scheme is beautiful.

Because they have come down in value, the PWC Rio Grandes are a good choice because you get a lot of engine for the money. They are beautiful engines.
The PWC 6250 switcher is gorgeous but like you say, it’s pricey. It commands the same kind of money as an origional in excellent condition. My druthers would be an origional.
Tough choice, I agree. If it were me, I would go for the Rio Grandes.
I would bag them all and pick up an original postwar (made in America) F3 or NW-2. Of course it will run virtually forever.

get an original 6250 in excellent or ln condition. Your value won’t go down if you run it with care.
