Looking for an engine to make a sweat work train to match som eon my PWC rolling stock - scarper car, nuclear disposal, boast loader. crane, work caboose, allis chamblis condensor car. Which is a better look?
Well, I’m biased, so I’d say the New Haven EP-5 Jet. I really like it’s style and bright colors and it is definitely unique looking. However it does remind me about a joke about electric locomotives-such as the recent PWC Majestic Freight with the GG-1 Electric-which had in tow some huge crane machinery-wouldn’t exactly fit under catenary in real life…
Lionel is releasing a PWC Great Northern EP-5 freight, so maybe that suggests the Jet as motive power.
Go with the 2349 NP GP9. Beautiful engines and most likely you would find a GP on a work train.
I second the NP GP-9 for a MOW train. The PWC model is sharp.
Since you have a nuclear waste car in you consist I guess you aren’t too worried about how prototypical it looks. I don’t think you would go wrong with either engine, they’re both beauties.
