I have some modern Lionel engines that are supposed to start going forward after a period of non-use. However, they start in neutral, and I need to hit the direction button to get them going, like my old postwar engines. What makes them do this? Is it repairable?
That is a good question, I also have one that does that. It is a Thomas the tank. My guess would be the electronic e-unit but I am not sure.
Kev.
There’s something to be said for designing them that way: Accidentally powering the track is less likely to result in a runaway-locomotive disaster.
For the reason bob gave I would prefer a conventional engine to start in neutral. I know some start in forward but as Bob said that could be a disaster in hiding
The reason that Williams has a mod posted on their site to start in neutral instead of forward. I also prefer they start in neutral.
Do you have the link handy? I looked on the Bachmann site and tried to Google it but I could not find anything. I would be interested in the modification.
Thanks…
Thanks Bill!
