Lionel Sawmill

been thinking about picking up a Lionel 464 Sawmill. I’d prefer a Postwar example, but not a have to be depending on price. There is a 12873 on ebay, new in box for $66 but it’s missing the roof. Olsens doesn’t list anything for these. Is this a hard part to find? Are the newer ones better runners? Don’t mind if a 464 is noisy, can’t be worse then my (97 coal loader)

thanks!

My 464 Sawmill (modern) is very sensitive to voltage. It tends to jam fairly often. As a result, it is off the layout now.

Mine had set a long time. Did some tweeking and oiling and runs a lot better now. Bet you can find it. If not, not hard to build a replacement. Might not look exactly like old one but styrene will work. Paint it gray.

The roof(464-7) is available for $6.00, the roof dust collector cyclone(464-21) is $5.00 at The Train Tender.

The noise is part of the “illusion” and adds to the accessory. The 12873 is very close to the 464 version except for color.

I’ve been seeing these go for about $50 NIB. Keep watching. I’ll keep an eye out for your bid, and will shy away. [swg]

$50? where at?

This one went for higher http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270212550186&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=017, but I saw the new one with a red base go for $50 earlier in the week.

Hi!

I picked up one in a box with all the pieces for $60 a few months ago. I have it right between the 464 and the 164 log loader it’s not as noisy. It’s a sawmill, it makes noise. Found that I must run at a high voltage to get it to run smoothly. A lot of fun for a little bit of money. I see them often on ebay and at train shows.

I think the present issue has SOUND.

I have the MPC sawmill, looks and is made like the original PW, my favorite acess. and always a crowd pleaser.
