Lionel small Hudson 552 on the cab

i posted in another forum and got no answers. Not in Greenburgs guides or price guides. Has a NYC under the headlight and metal smoke deflectors along the smokebox. I don’t remember buying this engine.

Courious about this engine.

Can you post pics of it?

A photo would certainly help. A three-digit number on a Hudson isn’t prototypical (If it’s a New York Central engine, NYC numbered them in the 5000 range) and to my knowledge neither are smoke-lifters on an NYC Hudson.

I think Nickle Plate Hudsons had smoke lifters. I don’t know how they were numbered.

Unless it’s a custom “chop n’ channel” job I’m not sure what you’ve got.

I don’t know how to post pictures. looks very much like 8206 in the Greeburg Fundemensions book except that one has a feedwater heater up front and no smoke deflectors.

Its possible its from a promotional set that was not sold thru normal hobby shops or in any catalog. Thru the years Lionel has done exclusive sets and locomotives, such as for Sears and JC Penny, promotional sets for Mopar, GM, Snap On and others that use them for sales awards and such. That used to be a cool thing to do back before we had the internet. Mikie

On that other forum, if you have a pic of the model saved on your phone/computer, you can click on add attachments down below where you type a message, you can then attach the picture to your post much as you do to an email. To post them here, you need a 3rd party photo hosting site such as imgbb or imgur ect. then you have to post the correct link for the picture to work. If you can post one to that other site or email it to one of us. We can post it here for you. Mike
