I have come across what I’ve identified as a 318 type 1 electric engine. It needs to be repainted…it looks like someone started stripping then stopped…but…no original color seems present…just a gray primer. Doyle says it was a ‘DARK GREY’.
Can someone provide what that color is? Maybe in a Rustoleum or Krylon spray…?
much, much appreciate.
Here’s what the aforementioned TCA book has to say, in order of appearance, with the most common color italicized:
dark gray
mojave
gray
pea green
State brown/with or without cream stripe/cream windown trim–red or State brown pilots
And for the 318E
mojave
gray
pea green
black
State brown/ with or without cream stripe/cream window trim–red or State brown pilots–
I don’t know what “State brown” is.
Two different grays for the early 318s, one dark and 1 light. Please dont rattle can it…it never never looks good. Send it to me and i will paint it correctly for the price of paint and materials. It is just depressing to see cruddy repaints, if you have an airbrush and experiance i can email you a correct formula for either color.
