Lionel Station Platform ?

I’ve been thinking about getting another station platform. One (Lionel Station Platform 156 PW) seems to be more expensive than all the others. Would you know why? As always, many thanks.

The 156 was produced from 1946-1951, and made of painted bakelite, and is illuminated. The newer version, 157, are made of polystyrene.

Kurt: Makes sense. Thanks.

The 156 was also produced before WW11. Not sure of the difference between the pre and postwar models. I think it has something to do with how the posts are colored. Certain billboards are more desirable as well. I also think it comes down to condition. Obviously, a 156 with no broken “fence-points” and beautiful paint with no scratches, in a crisp box will be worth a lot more than a model with a couple broken points, some scratches, and no box.
Either way, I have 2 on my layout and am always looking for a third, but your right. its hard to find them under 80/90$ in excellent condition.

Their prominence on the 1949 showroom layout sure enhances the popularity too…
