lionel tie ejector diesel

I have the lionel Prr tie ejector diesel. Spits ties real nice but is really noisy. I was wondering if anyone had the scematic on how to take it apart so I can do a little cleaning and lubing. I see a screw at the back and suspect that it has a part in disassembling the body but I want to make sure on how to take it apart.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mike,

Lionel’s postwar service schematic for the 55 Tie-Jector car showed only the details of the ejector mechanism. However, the operating instructions contained the following information:

“The motor armature shaft should be lubricated after every twenty hours of operation. Remove the car body by loosening the one retaining screw reached through the access hole in the rear compartment. Place a drop of oil on the end of a tooth pick and into the hole shown in Figure 5 [between the brushes].”

Thanks for the info. tomorrows project!
