[:(][%-)] My TPC will not work as it should.
I had my TMCC working fine, changed the layout a litte, reattached all the wireing and now it will not work.
I did find a bumber that was shorting the track, removed it but no change.
Using a meter there is a short between the inner and outer track when the TPC is attached.
The “Track” light on the TPC blinks slowly (the command light flashes with commands).
Isthis an indication of incorrect wireing, problem with the TPC or what.
HELP !
As you can tell this is my first time on any forum.
Hi j3318a,
I was just scanning thru some old posts & noticed yours here .
I hope its not too late too suggest you call the lionel service dept. about the problem.
Sounds like a wiring problem, or, perhaps the track is shorting out somewhere, Ive sometimes had a “mysterious short” turn out to be a track pin under the track bridging the middle & outside rail…
j3318a,
Could you provide some more info.?
I have a TPC 300 & a 400.
What did you specificly change on your layout?
Track, Switches, Wiring?
Check your phasing on the trans. Check the voltage going in and going out (with out track connection). Check track voltage. Check circuit breaker
Please post your findings or email me.
Looking at the 400, the light to the left will flash when a command is received,
i.e. turning of the knob on the cab one.
The light to the right will slow blink when in command mode.
These can be reset if needed, but I can’t tell you with out the manual in front of me.
Let me know and I will look this info up for you.

Is the TPC a transformer too?
The Track Power Controller takes the voltage from a transformer and distributes it to the track using a Command Base and a CAB-1.
I have been derailed for a while.
To Pat Zak - Place a lighted bumper(that was shorted out without my knowing, it was nes), added switches, changed wiring etc. Used meter to find short & removed bumper which also removed short but light still blinks w/o taking any tmcc commands.
To charlesp34 - to the tcp400 is not a transformer. It is hooked up to a “Z” transformer.
to macdannyk1 - I understand the function of the tcp400.
Thanks for all your help, knowledge & informantion.
It will be a little time before I can look these over and check things out.
I will try and reply when I find out what the problem is.
Thanks
j3318a,
If the ‘track’ light on the TPC is slow blinking you are in comand mode.
Press Track [TR] > Track # [1] > [Boost] This should put full power on the track.
To change between comm. and conv.
Press [TR] > [1] > [L] or [R] > [Boost]
Make sure your batteries are good in your Cab 1.
Let us know how it works out for you.
