Lionel Train Set Found!

Have a buddy at work who has held on to his Lionel train set for approximnately 20 years in the original box. He says it’s a silver colored diesel locomotive with four or five silver passenger cars “that light up”.

Do any of the experts here have any idea what Lionel set he’s talking about and how much it might be worth today (if it still runs?)

Thanks folk- my first post in this forum- appreciate your patience.

Erik

Eric, we need the numbers off the individual pieces, and the conditions to determine values. If you want to put together a list and email me I can look them up and tell you.

There are two Amtrack sets that come to mind as possibilities, but i don’t have my books here at work to look them up. One was acalled the Silver Sike. IIRC, one was late '70s MPC; the other was early LTI.

Eric you may have a set cataloged in 1953 #1467w. it had 2 union pacific, silver colored alco fa units. one powered & a dummy. It came with 3 silver O-27 paasenger cars.Maplewood being one of them. don’t know the value. Maybe someone out their with a greenberg price book can tell you. Good luck. Easter

In like new or excellent condition 500-800 if it is a 1467w, however, I would not expect to fetch that price, as price guides are always sky high.
