Lionel Train won't go backwards and the whitsle won't blow

Just put the train under the tree and it only goes forward???

The whitsle won’t blow???

PowerMax Transformer- could this be the problem or more likley the engine???

Not telling us enough. Does it have reversing unit or EUnit? Whistle could be you have the wirs reversed. Give more details.

Yes - reverse unit button on the powermax transformer. The engine is a 1058 smoke and whistle options. The smoke works! Tried to make track smaller to see if it was some type of conection.

Would reversing the conections on the bottom of the track do anything? Or moving them to a different location under the track?

Or could it be the engine???

Reversed wires are likely the problem with the whistle. For the reversing, look underneath the loco for a switch - it’s probably set to lock it in fwd.

And if the smoke stops, it was the other switch you wanted.
