Yep its great! See a nice article and handsome GIZ talk about it in the JULY issue of CTT.

Great system, great engine for details, sound and operation. Only one great guy in July CTT [the one from the South]. [(-D]

Here is some Legacy engines in action…decide for yourself with the control, sounds and fun!

Great control!

We had a great operating session with a Legacy steamer the UP844, a SD40, and a GP7. BTW in the first video the GP7 was pushing. Something I could never do before.

Legacy runs all TMCC engines from any manufacturer, from any time. You can pack away your Cab1 if you wanted too.

If I could make a suggestion. When adding to a post use reply. When you edit the post doesn’t jump up and a lot of folks won’t know you are asking for more info. Your thread will dump off the page without anyone knowing you need more info.

If you are using a powermaster, for now you will need your Cab1 only no TMCC1 command base to communicate with the powermaster. Lionel is addressing this so it will be short term. Once the powermaster is set to your operating voltage the Legacy will do everything else.

can i use the lionel command base with the TMCCII LEGACY if yes how will i wire it

Yes if you want to use Cab1 and Legacy remote together you can connect them together. There is instructions on how to do this in the manual. The important part is making sure that when you install the Legacy base that you remove the single wire from the TMCC1 base and move it to the Legacy base.

I would highly recommend getting the July issue of CTT. It is the best tutorial that has been published yet.

what if i use both command equipped and conventional locomotives

No problems running TMCC and Conventional.

If you are going to run conventional engines I recommend having a seperate loop powered independantly of the other loops and then set the output of the transformer to the MAX you want you engines to run.

I run Conventional, TMCC, and Legacy on my layout and do so without problems. I just have to remember when I have a conventional engine on the tracks because if I’m not careful I’ll have a derailment real quick!

right now i have the command base and the power master connected to the track because right now i am using the cab-1 remote soon i want to get the TMCCII LEGACY. with the TMCCII LEGACY will i still use the 135 watt power house how is the wiring done when using the TMCCII LEGACY

The Legacy Base replaces the command base, wires just the same. Then if you want to use your command base and CAB-1, you use the supplied Y-cable (comes with the Legacy Command Set) to connect the Legacy Base to the TMCC command base.

when using the TMCCII LEGACY will i run 1 wire to the track because with the set up i have now i am uing the cab-1 remote the command base the powermaster the 135 watt power house and the i am running two wire to the track one from the command base and one from the power master these wires are connected to the track on my lay out how is the wiring done to the track when using the TMCCII LEGACY

we’ve already covered this.

The wiring is EXACTLY the same no matter if you are using the TMCC Command Base or the Legacy Command Base, just swap the TCB with the LCB. There is a Y-cable included with the Legacy Command Set that connects the TCB to the LCB (there are no other cables running from the LCB to the TCB).

If you can’t follow this then you need to download the Legacy 1.1 manual from Lionel’s website, give it a read and go from there.

You are making this much more difficult than it is.

can i use the 135 watt power house with the TMCCII LEGACY if yes how is it done

What part of the word “EXACTLY” did you you not understand from 88’s post? [%-)]

i read the TMCCII LEGACY manuel at lionel.com i just dont understand how to connect the ionel 135 watt power house to the TMCCII LEGACY

You said you are using a powermaster correct? If so leave it wire as is. Remove your Cab1 base only. Connect the Legacy Base in it’s place. For now the Legacy remote cannot communicate with the powermaster so you will need the Cab1 remote only to communicate with the powermaster.

The Legacy remote will communicate with all TMCC, and Legacy engines. To run conventional you will, for now, have to use the Cab1/powermaster combo until Lionel releases the adapter for Legacy to do that.

The Powerhouses (135 or 180 watt) do not get connected to the TMCC command base or Legacy base. They connect directly to a new ZW or TPC 300/400 or Powermaster or directly to the track through a TMCC command lockon. One of the beauties of the TMCC/Legacy design is that power (Powerhouse; the watts, current and voltage) are separate from the command signal, the latter of which only needs to be applied to one spot on the layout usually. So you can wire your layout for power any way you wish (blocks, no blocks, or anywhere in between) and it has virtually no effect on the ability to command control locos anywhere on the layout.
