Hi ladies and gents,
I’ve just discovered this site so I’m not sure if this topic has been covered before.
I use a Lionel VW transformer (150W) to power my 20’x 15’ American Flyer (blasphemous isn’t it) layout. Or DID until it went south on me.
Does anyone know of a GOOD and RELIABLE repair service for this old workhorse? I’m in California but if this guy’s on Saturn I’ll ship it there in a heartbeat.

Most Lionel Service Stations can provide repair services for all vintage Lionel transformers. You can find local service stations by using the “Dealer Locator” on the Lionel website (www.lionel.com).

yeah, i’ve been down that track before… it’s a crap shoot unless you know the dealer personally and have experience with his repair capabilities.
which is precisely my problem, i don’t. the only dealer that i’ve dealt with repaired my VW and then sold it to me… the “repair” lasted about four months, and now i’m looking for someone ELSE to re-repair it.
he’d like to sell me new stuff but doesn’t seem to be too interested in the service aspect of his business.
hence, my search for those among us who have personal experience with a reputable, and reliable repairman… even if he IS on saturn.
