What is the difference between a Lionel staple end and a bar end truck?

a staple end you will see two pieces slightly sticking out the side. Bar end have a small flat piece sticking out the side.

It’s so unimaginative a definition. One looks like it has been stapled on the other looks like a bar. [:)]
