While digging thru a box of postwar Lionel stuff, I came across a
UCS track that had a black disc on the magnet. All of my other UCS
tracks have a red one. Is there a difference, other than the obvious??
All are 0 gauge.

Nope, just the color of the plastic. I’m not sure if the black variation is rare. I think track is pretty much track. I have one black one and 5 red ones that I use on my portable layout.
On my regular layout I cut up the 027 magnets and install them into Gargraves track. Then I paint the red part black.
Yep, I agree…Big Boy. Only difference is black disc instead of red one.
