i WAS AT A show yesterday in central New Jersey, and saw a V transforner on a a table for a price I couldn’t make out. When i inquired, the guy whose table it was said I think it says 40.00, but i have a bunch at home–take it for 25.00, so I did–I thought a cheap price for 170 watts.
When I got home, and googled V transformer, I found a discussion which I followed, but was puzzled by. An obviously knowledgeable guy wrote a post comparing the V to a KW. The KW has about the same wattage rating, but as he asserted, has max voltage output of 20 volts. Knowing that ACpower is approx equal to volts times amps, he calculated more amps for the KW because of a lower voltage range. Then he went on to say because of that , the V can be “wimpy” as a source of electricity.
I only want to run a double motored 2343 and perhaps a 773 or 736 or turbine, plus some lit passenger cars.
My switches are mostly Ross, so dont have lights, and half of my switch controls are the dual controlers which come with 1122 027 switches. And all that is run on a seperate circuit, from the same transformer.
Am I going to be disappointed? This is only a short term fix while my ZW is out for some maintenance.
