I am thinking about getting one of these. I know I can detail it better then it looks. I think they look kinda cheap out of the box. How do they sound? I know they come with QSI QUANTUM SOUND 3. Do they sound anything like the “VERANDA’S” jet exhaust?
Having never heard the original, even in a recording, I can’t vouch for the authenticity. However, I’m pleased with the overall results- good verisimilitude, if not verity. You get both the turbine sound, and the diesel secondary engine, along with the prototypical detail that you can’t go full-speed on just the diesel. [:)]

It sounds OK when you consider that you are trying to make a jet engine sound from a small speaker set. The diesel engine sound should only be used around a terminal to move the engine as they did not shut the turbine down on the road unless there was a long delay. These things were so loud you needed earplugs to be around them.
You can program the unit to stay in the Turbine mode for normal operation. I have one because it is the only one out there with sound and it was at a great blowout price of $189. They command a much higher price now that all of the stock was sold off.
Like many of the diesels and steam sound models, it could be refined. Maybe the QSI upgrade chips will cover the Turbine. .
Not that I can tell; I’ve only seen the QSI upgrade for BLI and Lifelike models. More’s the pity. [:(]
