I’ve got a Lionel HO Veranda that some “wonderful” individual broke one of the tender wire pins off inside the female end. She no make noise, how can I fix the Idiot’s error? I’m not happy with his excuses so I want to try to fix it myself.
The pins from the tender are only for the reversing light on the tender, they should have no effect on the sound. Make sure it has not been shut down with the sound muted, if you don’t have the manual on the qsi sound and ops of the Veranda go to qsi solutions website and download it from there. I think from memory F8 is mute on the Veranda but I’m not 100% on that.
As for the pins, is there any wire left hanging out, if there is try tweezers or fine needle nose pliers. If not maybe you can get a small drill bit to bite into the male part where the wire used to be an ease the pin out.
I think I read somewhere that the Veranda’s had an issue with the tender light, Lionel didn’t add a resistor to the LED and it caused a problem with power pick up from the rear trucks, might be worth checking out.
My Veranda also has broken tender wires - my grandson tried to “help” - I still love him anyway! The problem with these is that they are so tiny!! i haven’t tried to fix mine yet - I picked up a “miniature” 2 wire plug set, but it’s way too big. Oh well - some day![:(]
Please don’t be so hard on your “idiot” friend. The HO Veranda tender connector wires are extremely delicate. When one on my Veranda broke two years ago, I took it to Alex with DCC Train in Cincinnati, http://www.dcctrain.com/shop/ who replaced it. Despite trying to handle the new one carefully, I broke it within weeks. I don’t use the wires any more. Only thing I’ve noticed losing is tender backup light.
