I have been updating my locomotives’ wiring to my present state of the art, which requires putting in new lamp sockets that are insulated from the frame. I discovered that, with the addition of a few plastic shoulder washers, three obsoleted Lionel socket springs are ideal to replace the rubber washer in the horn ring of a Volvo Amazon, which loses its resilience after not even half a century’s use. Now I can renew my safety-inspection sticker before it expires!
