Lionel's Graduated Trestle Set

Hello to all of you!

I am getting my feet wet with designing a layout with the graduated trestle set. I don’t understand if each trestle is suppose to be two to a track (8 3/4" track 0-27 gage having a trestle on each side of it) or if each trestle should be every other connection.

The former seemed to me to be to close because the track was not level. The latter seemed to me to be a better fit especially with the extended straight tracks. The box has no instructions for placement of them.

Also, I did see the Polar Express and really enjoyed it. I want to build the mountain and would appreciate help on tgetting the track pitch to work.

Thanks for your assistance!

They are intended to be used on EVERY joint between 2 track pieces. It is a bit steep but that’s how they are to be used.

What I do to lessen the grade a little bit is to use the 3’ long sections of track. I found that I had to put a trestle in the middle though as the track is too unstable without it. But still, a 3’ long section is like multiple pieces of regular track so you only use 3 trestles instead of 4 or 5 trestles with individual shorter pieces. And the slope difference is VERY obvious.

Rich, The[}:)] Doctor is in !!! I went to my model train library(good thing to have) And found the answer you need. The Bents(that is what they are called) should be placed one full track section apart at the joint between sections. Any other questions, just ask !
Now if you will excuse me, I have to torment nayland smith ! HA, HA !!! (evil laughter)
