Lionel's New Approach to Service

From the TCA Members Listserv:

Well… I survived Lionel Factory Service Center Training! As some of
you might not know, Lionel has moved all parts are repair operations to
Ohio (Canfield to be exact). Phones are still answered in Michigan.
The repair and parts process is new from the ground up, and I think
everyone is going to like the changes. First things first, only service
stations that went for this training will remain service stations. If
you call Lionel for a repair, they will try to find a local Service
Station first before having you ship it to them to help speed the
process. Also, Lionel Ohio and All Service Stations have a goal, From
product drop-off to giving it back to the customer working in 2 weeks or
less!

Mike (I forget his last name at the moment as it’s been a long week!) is
now in charge of the service department, and I have to say, the way he
rain the class, and the way he is running the Service department is
great! He has a great facility, and the training we all received was all
top notch (Including a written exam and a practical exam, You being
handed 3 broken locos, and having to diagnose the issues and “fix” it
(Verbally, there wasn’t enough time to install the parts into the
sabotaged loco’s!).

It was a very very long week, 8am-8pm tues, wed, and testing Thursday.
I’m still recovering. Look for some exciting announcements coming soon
from Lionel!

I think the best is yet to come from Lionel

I think you are correct. It’s going to be a great ride.

Two of our guys from Todd’s Train Depot went. They were highly impressed. Think there may be a “new world” in Lionel serivce.

The name your looking for is Mike Reagan. He is a super guy, BTW.

Friday morning I spoke with Lionel Events Manager Thom Nuzzo. He lives on Long Island, and works out of Lionel headquarters at 171 Madison Avenue in the city.

He was on his way to Ohio for service training himself. Now mind you, he is not part of the Lionel Service Department, nor does he work for a Lionel Authorized Service Station. He is the guy who over-sees layout set-up and maintenance at department stores, Grand Central, and the like.

The fact that Lionel saw fit to send this guy to Ohio to take the full Service Training with Mike Reagan speaks well of the new Lionel Corporate Culture in my estimation.

When I took the class in July, we had a guy from California who I think was an “Electronic’s Engineer”

that worked for Lionel. I remmember Mike introducing him, but I don’t recall is title. Maybe nitroboy will chime in.

Bill

I know who your talking about, but can’t remember his name. He was in research and development I believe.
