Lionel's Version Of G.E's. U30C Locomotives:

Hi, All,

I would like to know the Pros and Cons of Lionel’s Version of G.E’s. U30C engines.

I want to buy one and I would appreciate some help.

Thank You In Advance,
Ralph

I Have the CB&Q version from several years back. Runs great, the only weak point is the contact block that they used to make the circuits between the shell and the frame. The contact block mount is a poor design that is easily broken. Also mine has the snow plow, it is mounted so low that it was hanging up on some switches. A bit of work with a dremel solved that problem.

Roger B.,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Even, though this is an older item I want it to go with my C. & O. Chessie System Cab. which I’m using for a model coal mine during the late 50’s,60s and 70’s around the North Eastern part of our country and to pay tribute to my wife’s maternal Grandfather who was a Susquehanna Coal Co. coal miner in Nanticoke, Penna.

Also, I saw and heard this type of engine which I like and due to it’s technilogical advances makes it part of the Twenty-First Century. Now I know what all of this Forum’s members rant and rave about with these here newer engines.

Thank You,

Ralph

Ralph, - sent a reply to your e-mail, hope it went through. If not e-mail me your e-mail address and I’ll reply direct to you.

Roger B.,

I received your E-Mail info. and again, I thank you.

I hope all is well with your engine and now I’m definitely going to buy that engine, as per your info.

I know Bob Keller did an article of M.T.H’s. version, but I don’t know if Bob did one on Lionel’s version and if so, it’s probably in a long past issue of C.T.T.

Ralph

My Appologies To Bob Keller And All,

I found the article in C.T.T’s. Jul. 2002 publication.

Sorry,

Ralph
