Lionmaster Question?

In Lionel’s latest catalog some of the locomotives are called “Lionmaster”.

What is this?

Lionmaster is semi-scale. They are the correct proportion and have many seperately applied details. They made them so they can be more impresive than traditional engines and they can negotiate o-31 curves. They match the traditional sized cars; not the standard size cars.

LionMaster is really the Lionel equivalent to MTH’s RailKing; except in LionMaster (which is kind of neat), they size the locomotives so they don’t look squished. I have the Norfolk Southern SD80MAC and it looks (and works) great, even with standard O freight cars. Actually the LionMaster SD80MAC is only 1" shorter than the scale locomotive of the same type. The LionMaster locomotives are sized down so they can get through O31 curves. Just a thought, though, at least with the SD80MAC, while it can go through O31, it swings out a little too much, so wider curves like O42 typically work better.
