Looking at things I noticed that LPG was used as far back as mid 50’s and rail hauled. There is a picture in “Industries Along The Tracks” of a whale body tank car being unloaded of LPG in either late 60’s or 70’s, I’m wondering what tank cars it would have been hauled back in the day? IIRC the biggest tank cars up to the 50’s were around 10,000 galloons. Were they hauled in specialized car like insulated tank cars? Just curious is all.
Prior to the 1960s LPG was hauled in smaller cars. I am sure they were pressure cars, most likely uninsulated, since the insulation was not required until the 1970s, if I remember correctly. Either Atlas or Intermountain make models of them.
