LIRR

Please refresh my memory: Did Lionel ever make a Long Island Railroad train? Did anyone else? Thank you.

somebody made a diesel a few years ago, I believe it was K Line.

I seem to remember a Lionel MPC LIRR geep and I know K-Line made a passenger set with a diesel at each end (an alco & MP15 if memory is correct) - I think it was called a Scoot (Scout?) set. You may try an ebay search.

Currently on eBay is a 1997 K-Line “Scoot” passenger set, as well as a new Lionel BB1 (search LIRR under “O” trains). Joe

THANKS TO ALL. I knew you had the answer!

Off the top of my head, and without looking it up:

Lionel/MPC Long Island GP-20 Powered/Dummy: charcoal gray with LONG ISLAND in block print on the long hoods. This set also had an early electronic horn. Circa 1973.

Lionel, LLC 4-6-0 Camelbacks: two versions, TMCC and conventional…circa 2005ish.

Lionel, LLC Ten Wheeler: TMCC/RailSounds…circa 2004ish.

Lionel, LLC ALCo RS-11 TMCC/RailSounds/Odyssey…orange and gray with “Dashing Dan” logos

Lionel, LLC Scale Heavyweight cars to match RS-11…circa 2006.

K-Line for years cataloged the “Greenport Scoot” as mentioned above. It consisted of an MP-15 powered unit, three O-27 “Streamliner” cars painted for coach service, and one O-27 “Streamliner” painted for East End Parlour Car Service with a red stripe.

K-Line also made a set of “O” Gauge aluminum Long Island passenger cars and a matching GP-38.

The NLOE club on the island has also had many special Long Island cars made, including piggybacks for Grumman, Northrop/Grumman, Republic, and Meehan Oil. Recently a Lionel acquarium car was produced.

Jon, You really remembered all that? Wow! Are you a LIRR fan or do you have a photographic memory. The only item I could think of offhand was the BB1.

Jon: Off the top of MY head was hair (If I can remember that far back) Appreciate the info.

I remember the Camelback but thats it?

John,

Sadly I can never remember what my wife asked me to do, what I had for dinner last night, or that I have a list of items to do before the next board meeting…

But ask me about TRAINS and I become The Rain Man!

Scrolling through MTH on EBAY, I saw a bit of LIRR.
