Found what MTH is doing for 2008 at http://www.toytrainheaven.com/.sc/ms/cat/HO%20Locomotives . Here’s a list:
Steam: 4-6-4, 4-6-6-4, 4-8-4, & 4-8-8-4.
Diesel: Dash 8, F3, F7, GG-1, PA, & VO-1000.

Maybe in G, O or tin plate. Wouldn’t hold my breath for HO.
go to select them and its blank, including the trip…
Well if that list is accurate their will be a LOT of whining coming along.
First we will hear that they are doing things wrong when they build another Big Boy, the market do not need it yadda yadda. [sigh]
Then some more about the challenger…
Then some complaining about the Triplex being produced since one else built it before them and that they should have built what I want.
So after all of us experts are done, MTH will know what to do in the future if they want to succeed. [:D]
Now please, read this with a bit of humour.
I’m for one do not really not need an other big boy, and I do mean it REALLY. But, my lonely challenger is looking for friends. And I do like plastic steamers so I will probably get one if MTH makes a die cast Challenger at a descent price.

If the 4-6-4 is a NYC Hudson, I would get one because I’m dang tired of waiting for Broadway Limited to come out with it & I would also get the PA if its made in SP Daylight colors & same with the 4-8-4.

Here’s the MTH HO web site. Nothing about any up coming HO releases. I think the site your looking at is referring to their large scale offerings even though it’s listed under the HO Manufacturers heading.
I HOPE they start producing more HO stuff. What they’ve done so far looks pretty good.
I hope I don’t spill the beans! Walthers has Bachmann’s listing of DCC/Sound relases. And those aren’t on Bachmann’s website.
If these actually ARE projected HO releases from MTH, then their Challenger just might turn out to be the NP/GN/SP&S Z-6 instead of another Union Pacific clone–they’re introducing that in their O-gauge line, seems to reason they could just reduce the dies like they did for their Triplex.
But ANOTHER Big Boy? The mind boggles. Maybe we’ll all be lucky and the advertisement listed the Whyte arrangement wrong–a 2-8-8-4 instead of a 4-8-8-4? We can only hope.

Ten different models out in one year is a big chunk of production. Good on them if they can pull it off but, with all their large scale stuff I can’t see them holding such an ambitious time table. Time will tell I guess.
Do they really feel another 4000 will be more profittable than a M4?
I’m perplexed. [(-D]
