Just a heads up:
At tecocam.com you can view the activity on CSX’s port line. You control the cam and the tracks are at the right hand side of the construction site, with the tracks coming out of a parking garage (take my word for it, it’s true) and heading down the streets of Tampa’s downtown district.
Fascinating website - but how long do I have to stare at the picture
before I see any rail action. All I see is the movement of vehicles
and pedestrians.
Any other such similar websites such as this one.
Would be great to see similar cam shots of railyards or main line action.
The service seems to be pretty irregular. I caught a CSX cut of about 12 cars a few minutes ago (had a caboose, which I found interesting). Seems like they’ll be lots of activity then nothing for hours and hours…you have to appreciate cars and pedestrians, I guess. But it is a unique sie and, like you, I would like to know of other cam sites that “accidentally” pick up rail activity.
The Tampa Chamber of Commerce tells me the line has “daily” traffic…so that’s not much additional information. Also, I was told there is a movie being filmed along the right-of-way today and for the next few weeks and it may affect traffic. The movie is called “The Lost” and you can see photos of the line at thelostmovie.com. The things I find trying to figure out when a train can be seen on this cam!
Correction: The right-of-way shots are at:

I was able to access the web cam site above but saw nothing but some construction workers doing their thing and the roof of the building on which the cam is located, but saw nothing that looked like tracks. HELP!
Oh boy. Can’t wait till the Huricanes start to roll in.
Allan.
With the camera on the construction site, move it a bit to the right…you’ll spot the tracks coming out of the parking deck and heading down the middle of the road on the right side of the construction site.
Does anyone know of the Trains freqencys on this line? (How many Trains run this line). What time of day do they run through town? Allan.
I can see why the Bridge is always open. It’s not a Main line. It’s just a branch.
Allan.
I’ve seen trains in the afternoon - around 4 p.m. Also early in am. This line runs from Tampa Union Station (it is actually Track One at the station) to part of the Port of Tampa. It is NOT a main line, but when it does have action, it’s usually pretty interesting.
