Well, i am now settled into livin at college, and it is pretty cool here. There is a CSX track next to I-95 that is 100 feet from my room, but I CANT SEE IT!!! There are some stupid trees blocking the view, and I can only hear the trains go by. I think there is a bridge up the road, and sometime i will go see if i can stake out the track and not be labled a terrorist.
I got lots of pics to share and as soon as i load them on the server i will post a link.
Adrian, glad to hear you’re settled in at school. After the leaves fall from the
trees, maybe you’ll be able to see the tracks. Will look forward to seeing your
pics.
Students are known to pull some pretty outlandish stunts at college. Vehicles placed in places where they normally don’t go is one of them. [;)]
Live crickets in someone’s dorm room is another one. Yes, had that happen to me. [:0]
The “Tide Slide” is another one but we won’t go into that one. [:0]
Taking the doors off the bathroom and making a pool is a good one. [:p] No, I didn’t help pull that one off.
Pulling the fire alarm is another one. Adrian can already tell you a story about what happens when the fire alarm goes off. No, he was not involved in it. He is much smarter than that. [;)]
Awww yes, dorm life, sometimes you just want to say, “I can’t believe they did that.” But IT does happen. [:p]
Isn’t that right, Black Ford Truck? [:D] [;)] [8D]
Really cool machine shop here. Also, there is a bridge that goes over the tracks a few blocks down the road. I will only be there in the daylight. I can also see the tracks pretty good if i look out the bathroom window on this floor. But i dont think it will be cool to stand in the bathroom with a camera.
I am photoshoping the pics down now and will post soon.
Parking - OK you all pay for another permit when they pull mine for illegal parking.
Where are all the hot chicks on campus? dont seem to see many in the engineering labs. Although, this airforce uniform gets me a few hellos.
Yeah, I have to agree with you Jim, that is a VERY NICE 4-12-4 “Scott Squad” class Heavy Freight Steam Locomotive.[:D]
I wonder who made it?[;)]

Oh, wait…
[:D][:D][:D]IT WAS ME![:D][:D][:D]
Thanks for the kudos. There are only two pictures like that. Adrian’s, and Jim has a 4-10-6 “Megaton” in the Scott Squad paint[:D]
[:p]THEY WILL BE WORTH SOMETHING SOME DAY![:p] Take care of them!
By the way, they were made with a macintosh G3 iMac.
MY MASTERPIECE IS ON THE NET!
So Jim, when can we see the other one?
Great stuff, and congrats. Hope engineering school is a magnificent experience for you. Your school looks like it has great facilities that should make for a good education. Now, a piece of advice from an old engineering prof to a new engr fro***hat I hope to see join the profession one day–and, you’ve probably heard it before and you’re probably not going to like it, either, but it works: this is a whole new drill totally unlike HS, and engr school is particularly hard and heavily detailed and intense. This freshman year, hard as it may be, try to ignore what’s going on beyond those trees outside the dorm window and marry your books-the trains will take care of themselves and you’ll have plenty of time for them later. Now, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take advantage of that precious free time this year to do something fun, but stay on track (pad pun, sorry, but intended[banghead]) and don’t let yourself get behind or heavily distracted, and get into the way the system works. It’ll make all the difference later when it REALLY counts. By the way, those profs and TAs are your best buddies–go spend a lot of time with them, because the tutorial help is priceless. Besides, some of them might like trains too.
I dont believe it, my chem professor, and advisor is a Lehigh Valley fan. Man, he was around when it was all steam, and that is what he likes.
I saw a squerral eating a mustard packet this morning. Dont know why i thought that was intresting, but maybe i stayed up to late last night. (doin homework by the way).
You should show him your nice new steam engine posters then. It might get you some brownie points. Also maybe you should set up a display of your LV loco pulling a few cars. [:D]
I found a few nice pics of L V engines online yesterday [;)]
Adrian, you haven’t been visiting your “fire alarm” friends have you. That might could account to why you thought the mustard eating squirrel was interesting. [}:)] [;)] Then again lack of sleep could also account for it. [:)]
