Live on the Roanoke web cam Steam Engine

Just as the title says. As of now it is still there.

I rode behind that engine last week.

Gee , as of 8:35 am mst. the screen is black and the sign says “ready” , ready for what?? Is P.O.B.T. ?? Is the crew having coffee and cookies in the hotel ?

Cannonball

Saw the Steamer headed east on the far track (or maybe the 3rd one, I was too busy looking at the engine to see what track it was on!) at 7:37 CDT (dunno Roanoke’s time) last night. It was fun to see the bell swinging and the glint of the sun on it.

The passenger train just arrived (12:30 PM CDT), again east bound, and stopped at the station with just the last car visible on the CAM. No steamer, just two dismals on the point. Lotsa passengers getting off and flooding the parking lot headed to their cars.

Wonder where the steamer is?

A link would be nice.

Sorry…

There are 3 access points depending on your preferences and ISP bandwidth:

  1. http://128.173.197.94:443/RRCmov This is the best view, large, highest resolution, and high update rate. Will open a new tab in IE, then runs Media Player and closes the tab. If you have a monthly limit of high data rate from your ISP, you might not want to use this access point; it can quickly use up your allotment and then they reduce your received data rate until the next billing cycle and you will NOT like the slow internet service in that interval!

  2. http://128.173.197.94/railcamax.htm next best view, smaller and full motion. Saves bandwidth due to the smaller size. Will open a new tab in IE and shows in that tab.

  3. http://128.173.197.94:443/RRCtrainsDOTcom lowest bandwidth requirement. Will open a new tab in IE then runs Media Player and closes the tab. Smaller/lower resolution and only updates once per second.

I often monitor using #3 (to reduce bandwidth consumption) and when I see something of interest, I close it and open #1 for the best view.
