Local groups approve Baton Rouge-New Orleans commuter rail study

50,000 commuters per what? Hour? Day? Week? Month? Year? Decade?

Listening to the dinosaur media, I thought New Orleans was still underwater and a disaster area, due to Bush’s hurricane machine and lack of enough bailouts.

How about trying something radical. Let the commuters who use it pay for the expenses instead of the socialist approach which taxes all working people for something they will never use. That, would be real change.

Okay. It’s federal money, so spend it. I’d rather see the “Sunset Limited” restored to Jacksonville, and south to Miami.

That would be cool! Lobster north, crayfish south. Don’t need no passenguhs!

I see all you cry babies on here whining about taxes. If your so distraught over spending. Quit paying your taxes!!!

No such thing as “federal money”!!! It’s my money and your money - money that we worked hard to earn - only to have it confiscated by “Big Daddy Gub’mint” so he can buy some votes by giving somebody a new choo-choo! Sheeesh!

What frequency do you think “people regularly commute” would indicate? Whatever happened to the concept of inference? Seriously, if they spend the money and find it’s not feasible isn’t that better than starting it and finding out then it wouldn’t work? Missouri’s River Runners don’t make money, but they do provide public transportation. What segment of public transportation isn’t subsidized by tax dollars? Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Federal money paid for the interstate hlghway, correct. My wife and myself traveled via Amtrak from S.S. Boston, ma. To New Orleans this past Feb… ok the city is open to tourist and dry.

Here we go again with people crying about the use of tax money for a passenger train but with no concern about tax money for a highway. I may never use a lot of tax-funded trains but I’m also sure there are many Interstates and US highways funded by Uncle Sam-I-Am that I’ll never use and also many state-funded roads in my state which I’ll never use either. Oh, did I mention the taxpayer funded airp[orts i’ll probably never use either?

Another waste of taxpayer dollars.

All modes of transport cost us , the tax payers money…always have and all ways will…call it grants, public help, subsidies whatever…none of the modes would be here without taxpayers help to build or operate.
