The Geneva Lake Area Museum of History,a non-profit, volunteer staffed local museum,is looking for a donation of a non-functioning engine for a static display. The C&NW railroad played an important part in the early development of this southeast wisconsin city. The museum has just recently received a donation of several Lionel madison style passenger coaches, lettered for C&NW, and now needs some type of steam engine to complete the display. Atlantics were primarily used on this line, although Pacifics were used as well. Anyone willing to part with a non-running junker that could be repainted for display purposes? A donation would be tax-deductable, and the museum can provide you with a receipt. The museum is located at 255 Mill st. Lake Geneva ,Wi. Phone-262-248-6060. Feel free to contact me at tbwilson4@yahoo.com, or contact Skinner or Kathleen Wilson at 262-248-3383. Thanks! Tim Wilson
Hey Tim, fellow Wilson here as well.
I go up to Lake Geneva often in the summer. We camp at Big Foot beach. I’ll have to stop by the museum next time we’re up there. I don’t have an engine to donate but will keep my eye out for one when I visit the local hobby shops. Sometimes they have junkers for cheap. Good-luck
Please stop by and take the tour. The local volunteers have spent a great deal of time and effort to present a “streets of yesteryear” display, where you can visit a full size mockup of various businesses from the late 1800’s, all complete with period antiques. Bring the family!
Sounds great. You know I do have an old American Flyer 4-4-2 that I’d be happy to donate. Interested?
I am sure the museum would gladly accept your offer! I just started working on this on behalf of my parents, both in their late 70’s, who along with about about 20 other senior citizens, have invested a great deal of time and effort into making this museum a reality. Skinner Wilson can be reached by e-mail at: onthego@genevaonline.com. I will also forward him a link to this forum. Thanks again!
