So, where is your layout located? In a seperate building? In your basement? Do you model in a small bed room? In the attic? (I know this has been done before, but this gives an opportunity for the board newbies to respond.)
Mine is in my bed room at my parents house. 4’ 6 " x 10’ solid rectangle. If our house had a basement or functional attic, I would lay claim to it. [banghead]
My N scale layout is in the basement family room.
I made three 3’ X 7" modules that bolt together to form a 10’ X 14’ “L”.
The two end modules have an additional 1’ bumpout on their sides near the end to allow broader loops.
Mine is in a detatched garage. It gets a bit hot in summer but not too cold in winter.
Combined basement and bedroom. Lots of fun.
mine is in my bedroom. It’s N scale, and is 4’x4’. My former HO layout, wich I was forced to dismantle[:(][:(] because of a move to a small apartment, was 4’x8’.
I built a very large house, so that I could have a very large basement, so that I could have a very large layout. And now I have all of the above.

Mine is in the basement 11’3" x 18’8". This is turning out to be a good size for now. Smaller and I couldn’t run the trains I want to; larger and I would never get anything done.

I secured trackage rights before the amalgamation back in 89’ so as it stands 1/2 the basement belongs strickly to the MESS, above ground anyway. Everything below the track either is christmas or camping gear.
Dedicated railroad room in the basement. It’s 13 1/2 by 15 1/2, with stub ended staging yards outside the railroad room at either end of the run. It’s a good size for me. Big enough to keep me busy ans small enough so I might actually get it " Close to finished" one day.

My last layout was in my garage - 12’ x 14’
I got bored with MR for a while and I was tired of not being able to park my car in the garage so I tore it down.
The next layout with be a bit smaller - 4’ x 8’

Mine’s in the basement, in the biggest room in the house!
We have a 2 1/2’x6’ N scale layout in the livingroom and a 8’x10’ HO layout in an 8’x20’ trailer that also has a 8’x10; workshop.
Mine’s still in the planning stages; but if all goes well, it’ll be an N scale in about a 3’x4’ space. Small, I know, but that’s what you get for living in an apartment. [;)]
We have a 22’6" x 18’6" den that houses our layout. It is 17’ x 5’ 6" HO. Still leaves room for the pinball machines , loveseat and tv stuff.

All my trains are in the basement. They take up most of it except for the washing machine, etc.
