I have a HUGE attic[banghead] but it is not heated or cooled, i want to put my layout up there, but i have no idea if that would be a terrible mistake or not, will someone please help me!!!
Sounds good if there aren’t a lot of “trusses” in the way. Finish it off simply first with insulation and drywall and heating and cooling. Do you have good access. If not could you build a staircase to the attic. Hopefully its a walk-in attic.
How big is HUGE?

Sounds like a lot of work. How does the slope of the roof effect those dimensions. I mean is 20x35 the floor space or the stand-up-straight space?
What’s the roof height? If you’ve got 20x35, chances are this is a good-sized space, but I’d go with insulation first, a through-the-wall air conditioner second, and real heating third. In the meantime, you can use a portable space heater. The insulation should be properly vented so it doesn’t cause roof damage down the road.
My attic is only about 10 feet wide, with a 6-foot peak and 45-degree sloped walls. Useless for a layout. Great for storage, though, which opens up more useful space downstairs.

sounds like it’ll work okay to me. I would agree that you need to do some basic finishing and insulating to the space to keep it in a habitable condition.
