Locking the Coffee Pot Thread - What does that mean?

The Coffee Pot was just locked. What does that mean? Erik, isn’t the Coffee Pot thread due to be restarted the first of each month? Chief HELP.

I think it means to stop talking and stimulate the economy by going out and buying lots of trains.

The problem is the size of the coffee pot thread - this forum’s software has a problem with long threads which causes the forum to slow down to the point where navigating becomes a problem. So the forum admins periodically lock the current version of the coffee pot when it starts affecting performance.

Use to be restarted once a year. You don’t want my opinion. Just say thanks and move on.

I dont get it. i dont use the coffee pot thread. i do however perform low level moderation at an entirely unrelated forum. there are routinely threads running in excess of 20 to 30 thousand replies, and they have been alive since the site started in 2005. must be different forum software.

Yep, it’s definitely the forum software - I’ve been moderating muscle car forums for a decade, and I’ve never run into any other software that gets bogged down like this.
