I have the DB150 command station and a locobuffer II. I connected everything like it says in the manual, I get a green light for external power, a green light for LocoNet, and when I do anything with my regular throttle, I see the red activity light blink. However when I go to use DecoderPro, I am not able to write changes to the decoder, because it gives me a timeout error connecting to the command station. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?
I know that I can not read values, I just want to be able to write them so that I can set up speed tables.
What operating system do you have? If you have XP, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. Open up the section that says Ports (COM & LPT). Right-click ont he serial port you ave the Locobuffer hooked to and select Properties. Go to the Port Settings tab and set the options to 19200, 8, None, 1, Hardware. Click OK. Close everything. Go into JMRI and make sure you have the connection set to Locobuffer-II, the proper COM port, 19200 baud, hardware flow control, and the DB150 command station. After you hit Save you need to restart JMRI.

That IS the easy answer [:D] XP seems to default to software (CTS/RTS) flow control and the silly Java comm libraries don’t properly override the setting (never had to go in there for anything else I hooked to the serial ports - like a modem or my Palm PDA, to be able to use hardware flow control. But my Locobuffer would only work in MS100 mode until I made the changes I mentioned). Such are the problems you run into when you try to make one programming language and all its libraries work on a myriad of different systems.

Thanks for the help. That was exactly the problem. I have it up an running and was able to program my first locomotive using DecoderPro.
