Locomotive Address using Decoder Pro

would a locomotive number such as 100 be a short or long address?

What DCC system are you using?

Lenz and CVP: 100 = long

Digitrax: 100 = short

NCE: 100 = long OR short

Randy, I was thinking along these lines. But is he really asking “if Decoder Pro asks for a long address and I want that address to be 100, will Decoder Pro accept the number 100 and do whatever it needs to do to make this a long address on my DCC system? Or do I need to put the number in as 0100 for Decoder Pro to see it properly as a long address?”

You have to select the radio button on the Basic tab for 2 digit or 4 digit. It will program whichever you want. However depending on your system you may not be able to run the loco. If you program a decoder to 100 as a long address and you use Digitrax, there is no way for you to then select that loco with a throttle. And if you program 100 as a long address on NCE you will have to key in 0100 on the throttle to select it as along address.
