Hi, my dad saw this locomotive on a boat on the Detroit River, does anyone know what railraod it is from.

Yes, it is appropiate to see a train on Train Island.
Probably Delray Connecting #65 a SW1200 I lightend the photo and could see that there is a circular emblem on the side of the hood. Could not tell number on side of cab but would be “DC 65” if identification is correct.
Locomotive #66 has “GREAT LAKES WORKS” on the side of the hood - no emblem on hood - US Steel emblem and “66” on cab…

Could be. That would make it DC 64.

I know! My dad did it with some people from work a 5 or 4 years ago. I was looking through some old computer pictures and found this one.
The “Boblo Boats” passed Zug Island on their way to the park (Boblo Island, actually Bois Blanc Island). I remember Zug Island as being dark and dingy, which is no surprise given the industry there (N 42 16’ 48" W 83 6’ 50").
The bridge in the image is over the Rouge River.
The dark, dingy industry is precisely what I’d be looking for!
Many years ago, before any of our kids were married, my brother-in-law brought his boat, his family, and my mother down to our area, and we took a triangle trip incorporating the Cal-Sag Channel, Calumet River, Lake Michigan, Chicago River, Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, and back along the Cal-Sag Channel to our put-in point. Many interesting sights along there (and a couple of locks to go through), but the one that stuck in the minds of our kids, nieces, and nephews was a Hullett unloading coal from a barge on the Calumet River. Alas, no longer available to see.
