Locomotive Roster for Detroit, Lansing and Lake Michigan Rail Road

Hi,

Can anyone point me to a complete locomotive roster for the DL & LM RR?

I have been to the Pere Marquette site, was hoping though for a roster of the DL & LM itself with their numbering scheme. The RR only existed as an entity for 5 years and then re organized under the Detroit, Lansing and Northern Rail Road.

Try searching for “Detroit, Lansing and Lake Michigan Railroad” in Google books. Lots of annual reports, commercial directories, etc. I have found engine rosters for my railroad (Wilmington & Northern) complete with miles traveled in passenger or freight service in some corporate annual reports buried in Google Books. It does take some digging, but thar’s gold in them thar hills.

Thanks. I checked out the Michigan RR comission annual reports but it does not list locos, except for their weight.

The book Pere Marquette Power lists several former DL&LM 4-4-0 locomotives.

Is there a photo in there of a 2-6-0?

Yes, but all of them were either of Flint and Pere Marquette vintage, LE&DR vintage, or purchased after the Pere Marquette was created. None were of DL&LM / DL&N / DGR&W vintage. They either never purchased them or they were all scrapped or sold prior to the forming of the PM.

Wow thanks. I will post a mystery photo this weekend of a 2-6-0 this weekend to see if anyone can identify it. Problem is I don’t even know the year it was shot so I don’t know if it was a DL&LM, DL&N / DGR&W or a FPM or just a PM. Photo is pretty grainy too. LE&DR is Lake Erie and Detroit River?
