Locomotive Roster

For the couple of years I have made and
added to a Locomotive Roster
and was wondering if anyone else was,
or possibly came up with the same idea [?]

i keep a roster of what i’ve seen. Several places on the web have complete listings. I know someone on here keeps a record of the cars he’s seen as well.

These guys have done a pretty good job of it. It’s one of the best sites I’ve seen anyway.

Years ago,I used to keep a notebook handy, and write down unit numbers.
But sorta have quit doing it in recent years.
Especially helps if that is what you want to model, and that time span.

A boy about my age (13-14) that is commonly found on the trains.com forum, has over 50,000 (roughly) cars #'s on his website.

Well I drew up a roster for my railroad (model). Actually I had help with it because I have a co owner Robert who I refer to when company decisions are made. The railroad is called TXPA (Texas and Pennsylvania) we just recently merged with a rail network called ConTrans. We recived 20 new locomotives upon the merger.

I used to, but all the info is on the internet and here so why bother?

I have been starting to keep one but not faithfully

The reason why I did and still do kept a train roster is because you have a record of every locomotive that comes through which were I live there isn’t a specificly the same locos. As far as I know there is no website that has every single engine’s number, model #, and Railroad it belongs too.

I started in early 2004, and have been keeping track of everything I’ve seen since then.

I keep a ‘‘PAD’’ and write down engine numbers and the number of cars it had

I have been doing this for 2 3/4 years now I am on my 3rd pad

I have been doing this ( writing down unit numbers) since December 11, 1998 and I have right at 1,400 unit numbers. I have them classified by railroad and then number series (ex. 2000’s, 2100’s,2200’s etc.)

Holy old thread batman!

my site has a small amount of mine which is linked below.

I keep track of train symbols, not so much unit numbers. Tracking the symbols gives me a good idea of when their are coming and whats on them and, most importantly, what line they’re gonna take through Pittsburgh (NS trains have three choices, depending on over height cars and weight).
