locos

im making a layout that is based in the mid 20th century, 30-48. i am going to have a 12 stall roundhouse, i allready have 8 of the 12 filled with 2 bachman spectrum 80-ton three truck shay’s, 1 bachman spectrum richmond 4-4-0 american, 2 bachman spectrum 2-10-0 russian decapod, and 3 IHC 2-10-2 santa fe type loco.

all thease locos are going to be road loco’s and im stuck on the last 4, i want some desels and 2 of them need to be ready for passenger servace. im ok with some more steam but they would have to be BIG things like 2-6-6-2’s.

my railroad is freelanced and runs north and south on the east coast and conects the norfolk western rail road and the baltimore and ohio railroad’s.

thanks for all of your help.

This site can help you on dating the diesels.

With that wide a time period, it’s hard to pin down what diesels would be approriate. The earliest diesels I believe were box cab switchers which would be appropriate for the early part of your time frame. FTs and F3s would have come along later. Early E unit might be appropriate if you want big diesels. RS-1s would be a good choice.

well when i said 30 i geuss i ment like 39

Good site.

Thanks Jeff. Been looking for a listing like that.
